Together with the Office of Research Services (ORS), the Quality Assurance Team, and the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies, the Office of the Associate Vice-President: Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (AVP: EDI) develops training and leads structural changes that advances equity, diversity, and inclusion in research and academic excellence.
The Canadian Institutes of Health Research, the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council, and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council recognize that achieving a more equitable, diverse and inclusive Canadian research enterprise is essential to research excellence. An equitable research environment advances knowledge and understanding, and responds to local, national and global challenges.

This work includes the development of training and resources that provide guidance on how to embed EDI into research and the development of EDI data collection, analysis, and mobilization.

Online Modules
This self-paced hybrid course and toolkit provide concrete strategies for incorporating equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) into labs and research teams. In completing the course, participants will build a working understanding of foundational EDI concepts, understand how to embed EDI in research processes and systems and how to foster a collaborative research environment rooted in equity and excellence.

This self-paced online course provides practical strategies that help scholars embed EDI into research assessment. There are certain moments in which a scholar might be in a position of power to adjudicate the merits of another’s research profile. In these moments, a scholar may decide whose research is amplified, funded, and cited, and who is hired and promoted. This course provides guidance for scholars as they deliberate on others’ work by providing practical considerations and strategies for how EDI can shape research assessment.

Academics
The Office of the AVP: EDI works with the Quality Assurance Office and the Teaching Excellence and Innovation team to embed EDI into classrooms, program, and curriculum.
Collaboration with the Quality Assurance Office supports the implementation of university policies 2.1 and 2.2. This work includes the provision of training for those developing new programs and for programs undergoing the cyclical review process.
The Teaching Excellence and Innovation team provides professional development resources to instructors on various pedagogical approaches and builds community between instructors at 51成人福利网. The Office of the AVP: EDI co-develops resources that support instructors in embedding EDI into teaching.
